19th August 2016
Today we had our day trip to Rottnest island!
We left home quite early in the morning as aunty's son was going to fly us over himself!! (he was a pilot and had his own small freight!)
So we headed to the royal aero club where all pilots-in-training gathers at.
As the plane was a small one, it could only fit up to 4 people (including the pilot)... so aunty's son had to make 3 trips in total, to and fro. It takes 20 minutes to fly there, and another 20 mins back.
So we had to wait awhile, but its definitely still faster than normal boat ride across the ocean!
Say hello to Piper Cherokee (1974)!!!
To get on board, we had to climb and step onto the 'wings'.
I can't help but to keep thinking about the show 'CARS'. hhhaa
cause it looks so cute!!
When we were on board, we had to put on the headphones which allows us to hear what the pilot is saying clearly. We also had to put on this emergency bag just in case.
But anyway, the view from above the waters were beautiful, and we got to see the entire Rottnest island from above too!!
"Delta Alpha Echo, cleared to land"... & we landed on the beautiful Rottnest island, the only home to Quokkas!
As we had to wait for the last group to arrive, we stayed inside this small 'terminal' holding area.
So i decided to walk out of it to see the surroundings... which is actually one big vast land + trees in the far end + the big big view of the sky.
Look mama! Its the quokka!!!
(it's so cute... ahH!)
So when everyone have reached, we proceeded on and walked about 10-15 minutes to the 'city' area of the island for our lunch, and to explore the island!
We had lunch in DOME restaurant!
I think it's also my very first time dining in DOME, and I was pretty excited to try the food!
Ordered my usual eggs benedict with salmon and tried the honeycomb milkshake.
It was pretty satisfying although its a bit expensive. But well, aussie = ex.
After lunch, we explored the island on foot, and taking their shuttle buses to slightly further places.
Our sightseeing and pictures-spamming began!
Sadly, its winter.. so there wasn't any water activities going on.
However, i saw a few kids playing in the waters!! Omg.
Like its so cold??!
Anyway, i guess its nicer to come to Rottnest island during summer and it will be more crowded as people will be doing water sports.
But it was still a nice place to escape from the city life!
Can you spot the rainbow above?
So when it was close to 4+5pm, we make our way back to Perth.
As it took us a total of 2 hours for everyone to gather again back in Perth... we had to plan to leave earlier.
This time, we were the last group to head back, that's why we could spend time taking photos inside the plane all :P heheh
I remember while waiting for the son to come back to pick us, I was walking around trying to catch any pokemons. HAAHA.
Teaching my darling niece how to roll on the grass patch :P
(memories from my first ever perth trip..)
After dropping the aunties back home, i decided to bring my mom and nat and one more aunty to Kings Park & Botanic Garden.
Because we won't have time to do so in the next few days, and knowing how my mom loves flowers... I drove about 15-20 minutes there?
And true enough, she started taking pictures with the flowers! Haha.
While i spent some precious time with my nattie.
It got dark real quickly, and after seeing both the day and night view from the garden, we decided to head back home for our dinner. (:
We basically end our day very early as its winter... and.. Aussie has a laid back life, where every shops closes at 5pm! wah!
So this is the end of day 4!
